West Ridge at a glance
West Ridge runs from Howard Street in the north down to Bryn Mawr and Peterson Avenues, with Ridge Boulevard, Western Avenue and Ravenswood Avenue on the east and Kedzie Avenue and the North Shore Channel on the west. Plenty of people still call it West Rogers Park.
Devon Avenue is the main street, with part of it honorarily named Golda Meir Boulevard. The neighbourhood is home to a large Hasidic community and to Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Assyrian, Russian, Korean and Rohingya communities. It also has two bungalow historic districts, the Rogers Park Manor Bungalow Historic District and the Talman West Ridge Bungalow Historic District, plus Warren Park and a Metra station at Peterson and Ridge.
Pickup notes for West Ridge
- Bungalow blocks. Many have a garage off the alley. Tell us whether the car rolls and whether the alley is clear.
- Devon Avenue. Give a side-street location; the avenue is too busy for a long stop.
- Apartment buildings. Say where the lot entrance is and whether a gate needs opening.
If your block is a permit zone, a short pickup still works.
Hail on the street-parked cars
Cars that live on the street take the storms. If yours has dents or cracked glass, the offer is still straightforward: read how to sell a hail-damaged car in Chicago and describe it the same way on the call.
Where the number comes from
Your offer starts with what the car is made of, then adds what its parts are worth and adjusts for condition and paperwork. The details are in how an instant junk car offer is worked out.
